Sister Lucy Kurien, founder and director of Maher, an NGO interfaith organization continues to serve the homeless of India for 25+ years.
During our stay in Pune, we witnessed firsthand her unwavering efforts, sleeping a few hours in modest quarters amongst those whom she serves. The children of Maher are joyful and healthy, and their devotion to Lucy is heartfelt.
Sister Lucy has earned over 40 awards internationally including India’s Mother Teresa award, and “Special Consultative Status” by the United Nations. We have been blessed with Sister Lucy’s visits to Staten Island since 2007.
